Windows 11 on M3 MacBook Air vs real Windows PC: ARM virtualization works for light use, but skip it for serious work or gaming

You can run Windows 11 ARM via Parallels or VMware on an M3 MacBook Air, but not the standard x86 version. Performance is fine for Office, Chrome, or Photoshop, but CPU-heavy apps, gaming, and GPU-accelerated tasks lag or fail. The fanless design throttles under sustained load, and 16GB RAM limits the VM to about 8GB. For occasional app access it’s okay; for real Windows work, buy a proper PC.
