Solid pool cover vs liquid cover: Solid cover is the only real solution for evaporation

A solid cover cuts evaporation by 90% or more by blocking wind and sun, while liquid “covers” break up easily and need constant reapplication. Without a cover, you lose about a quarter-inch of water per day in hot weather. Solid covers also keep out debris and can heat the water. A cover is cheap compared to the water bill.
