Rubber mousepad bases vs silicone mousepad bases: Silicone wins for white desks

Rubber bases can stain white desks over time as plasticizers migrate into the surface, leaving greasy yellow marks. Silicone bases are much better — they’re inherently non-slip without plasticizers, so migration is essentially zero. Just make sure the pad says “100% silicone base” to avoid blends that can still cause issues.
