High-end Chromebook vs MacBook Air: Chromebook wins for web and docs unless you need Mac-only software
For pure web browsing and document editing, a high-end Chromebook is better value than the MacBook Air. A $700–$900 Chromebook like the Acer Spin 714 gives you fast Intel performance, good screen, and all-day battery for $300–$500 less. The MacBook Air’s nicer trackpad and build quality don’t matter much when you’re just typing in a browser, and the Chromebook boots faster and runs Linux/Android apps natively. Only choose the Air if you need Mac-only software like Final Cut or Logic Pro.
