Glass mousepads vs cloth mousepads: Glass is faster but eats mouse feet faster

Glass pads are harder and more abrasive than cloth, so they wear down PTFE feet faster — it’s not a myth. The trade-off is simple: glass gives a slick, consistent glide for fast flicking but requires replacing skates every few months, while cloth is gentler and lets feet last for years but collects dust and wears unevenly. If you’re not willing to swap skates occasionally, stick with cloth.
