Frozen hose vs frozen faucet: Hoses are toast, faucets might be fixable

A frozen hose with a split is done — no tape or patch will hold. Hoses are cheap, so just buy a new one. A frozen outdoor faucet (sillcock) might be salvageable if you turn off the water supply and replace a worn washer.
