ECC DIMMs vs non-ECC DIMMs: Lifespan is the same, data integrity is the real difference

No meaningful difference in lifespan — both use the same DRAM chips with similar MTBF ratings. The extra parity chip in ECC adds a negligible failure point. Choose ECC for 24/7 servers to catch single-bit errors and prevent silent data corruption, not for longevity.
