Bar oil vs motor oil: Bar oil is worth the extra dollar for chain saws

Bar oil has tackifiers that keep it clinging to the chain at high RPMs, while motor oil is thinner and flings off faster, causing more wear and mess. Motor oil works in a pinch to finish a cut, but cheap bar oil is still better than expensive motor oil for the job.
